Keen’s $91 hybrid sneakers are the most comfortable shoes I own — I’ve worn them almost every day for six months and my feet have never felt better

I got a pair of Keen Jasper Zionics way back in September 2025. Even after I reviewed them, I’ve kept wearing them. Literally every single day — and I’m not exaggerating. Ask any of my colleagues. They see me frolicking around the office sporting these gorgeous hybrid sneakers every single day.

And you know what? I’d not have it any other way. The Jasper Zionics are a rare shoe, in that they can do it all. Style? Check. Comfort? Um, major check. Functionality? Check, check, check.

With 4mm lugs and grippy rubber soles, I can wear these sneakers even on the slipperiest terrain without stumbling. Although there’s no “real” waterproofing, the brushed suede keeps rain and mist out. And because of the wide toe box and foam insole, they’re unbelievably comfortable.

So comfy

I know asserting that the Jasper Zionics are the “most comfortable shoes I own,” is a bold claim, but it’s literally true. Every time I leave the house, I want to put them on.

Unfortunately, I have loads of shoes. I have everything from thermally insulated snow boots to trail running shoes to Doc Martens to Converse and platform Crocs (laden with Jibbitz, naturally). So you can imagine that the other shoes on my roster don’t really get a look in anymore.

And you know what? Who cares. If I want to wear my Jasper Zionics every day, so be it. If my other shoes watch me lace up my Jasper Zionics with tears in their eyes, so be it. If I may as well donate the rest of my foot gear, so be it. It’s me and my Jasper Zionics against the world.

Thanks to the wide toe box — a feature present on all of Keen’s shoes — my feet have never felt better. You know during yoga classes, when the instructor tells you to spread your toes before doing a balance? There’s a very good reason for that. If your toes are spread, you have better balance. Ergo, you can walk better.

Your toes need room to stretch, stabilize, and steady, which is why Keen makes all of its shoes with wide toe boxes. Now that I’ve worn shoes with a wide toe box, I can’t go back to any other style.

Trail (and town) ready

Keen’s aesthetics are quite divisive — especially in the Tom’s Guide office — but I utterly adore them. I love a gorpcore moment, and the Jasper Zionics are the gorpcore shoe of my gorpcore dreams. Other hiking shoes strike the balance, too: the Merrell Moab 3 and Salomon Speedcross 6 marry hiking and city usage perfectly.

It’s all about combining functionality and style. The 4mm rubber lugs on the sole are there to stabilize you on slippery terrain, but they’re also a statement. They’re here to say “Yeah, I’m cool and trendy and also functional as heck. What are you gonna do about it, hm?”

I’m gonna wear you until you fall apart. That’s what I’m gonna do.

Thankfully, though, that should be a while. I’ve been wearing these sneakers for six months, and the upper and sole still look as good as new (although they could do with a clean, but that’s on me, not Keen).
