After I graduated from college, I dearly missed having daily, weekly, and monthly goals that were entirely in my control. So, I started a training program through the app Couch 2 5K that I hoped would ease me into running—and I’m so happy I did. Now, 15 years later, running is my favorite way to relieve stress, challenge myself, and stay active. After thousands of miles of running (and walking), I’ll only buy sneakers from one brand: Brooks. And I just noticed that one of my favorite pairs of Brooks shoes—also the No. 1 best-seller in Amazon’s Women’s Road Running Shoes category—is quietly on sale for Presidents’ Day weekend.

When I laced up my first pair of Brooks Glycerin 22 sneakers last winter, I intended to wear them for running, but the universe had other plans. Instead of adding to my mileage count, I tore my calf muscle, which landed me in a boot for a month and five months of physical therapy. I can’t say I recommend the experience, but what I can confirm is that Glycerin 22 sneakers are fantastic for comfort, support, and stabiltyand they’re on rare sale at Amazon for 30 percent off.

For six months straight, I only wore my Glycerin 22 sneakers. Initially, I wore them because the white, teal, blue, and pink design brought me joy, and they matched the height of my walking boot perfectly. The shoes felt bouncy—one of Brooks’ design goals that lived up to its promise. And I quickly realized the comfort of these sneakers was unmatched, with plenty of built-in cushioning and an ease while walking that I hadn’t experienced before (yes, even while injured).

I was also enamored with the fit of these sneakers. In addition to the ample support, a must as someone prone to plantar fasciitis with very high arches, the stable, sock-like fit around the ankles made the shoes feel more flexible than my beloved Brooks Adrenaline sneakers. This feature was particularly handy in physical therapy when I was stretching, biking, and side-stepping my way around my physical therapist’s clinic. And it’s a feature I continued to appreciate once I was able to walk my 3-mile loop around my neighborhood again.

After almost six months of physical therapy exercises, walks and errands, and even a trip to Disney World where I logged close to 30 miles in a few days, I was finally able to wear something other than my Glycerin 22 sneakers. But, while I was thrilled to mix up my outfits, I missed my go-to shoes. So, I stopped wearing my Adrenaline sneakers for walks and have kept lacing up my Glycerin shoes instead—a happy medium that lets me maximize two wonderfully comfy sneakers from my favorite brand.

I intended to try Brooks’ Glycerin 22 sneakers as a healthy runner, but I ended up wearing them through rehab and beyond instead. Although I was initially disappointed, I grew to appreciate the comfort, stability, fit, and bounce of these shoes more than anything else I’ve ever worn because I laced them up daily while I worked toward being well again. Now, when I can wear other sneakers, I still reach for these often—so much so that I happily purchased another pair.

Whether you run, walk, or simply love comfy shoes, I highly recommend shopping for Glycerin 22 sneakers while they’re on sale for Presidents’ Day at Amazon. Plus, find even more discounted Brooks below.
